A small step down in durability of the guide itself, but full of good info

The first part of my review will be a comparison between the previous edition of this guide (no DLC content) versus this one. The second part of my review will be this particular guide itself. I apologize if the pictures are a little blurry, I couldn't hold my phone still, and the camera is flaky sometimes.

Pros:
Tons of quality content, information about the base game and all of the DLC.
Information well organized and easy to access.

Cons:
Pages feel flimsy compared to other guides and previous release of this guide.
Color on pictures is awkward (more below).

The main reason why I bought this guide was the fact that I liked how well the information was organized. Even though I already had the guide for the base game, I wanted the additional DLC content thoroughly laid out. In terms of the information inside the guide itself, this thing is rock solid.

Now to the cons, which are good to be aware of when buying this guide: The pages of the guide feel flimsy. I worry about ripping them when paging through. The previous iteration of the guide had a sort of glossed finish on them, a sort of thin laminate if you will, so it helped guard a little against rips and felt nicer on the fingers. The new iteration of the guide (this one) still has that laminate feel, but it is noticeably less so, and the pages feel slightly thinner, hence my worry of them ripping. The coloring of the pages is also "awkward". Looking past the slightly blurry images I've supplied, it can be observed that the newer guide seems to take the original images and turn the brightness up a bit, such that they don't look as good. If the screenshot is of Geralt inside a dark sewer, I expect it to look dark to match my game, not be turned up such that the blacks turn to shades of light grey. Because of this slight change in coloring, images look slightly less sharp. These two issues aren't deal breakers, but they were minor letdowns.

Keep in mind though that this comparison is coming from someone who is discretely comparing the two editions, so others might not care if this is the first edition being bought. Overall the content within this guide continues to impress on the level of detail provided. If anyone is thinking of purchasing this guide for a detailed overview of the game (including the DLCs) mechanics, quests, etc, I wholeheartedly recommend it, just be aware of the "cons" I pointed out when going into it.

Recommend... heck yes.

I've played most, if not all, RPG's . All the way back to the SNES.

And, other than a few personal preferences regarding game play and "loot", Witcher 3 can hold it's own against any game ever sold. Many great games out there, but you'd be hard pressed to find one that can overshadow this one.

I won't go into a major review of the game. There's enough info available elsewhere to tell you what it's about.

Just know, if you like RPG's, you will NOT be disappointed.

The Harmony of Science & Scripture. (Creationism vs. Evolution)

My mother, (L.S. Tuttle, a Southern Baptist, & a Spanish college professor) first saw & heard the author of this book, Dr. Harry Rimmer, D.D., Sc. D. in the early 1930's at a lecture series at Ridgecrest, NC. This book is basically those lectures, in print. (Everybody told him he should publish those lectures, so he did. It was first copyrighted in 1936.) If you have ANY interest in the subject of Creationism vs. Evolution then this book is a MUST READ!

Here is a list of the chapter titles: Modern Science & the First Fundamental, The Harmony of Science & the Scriptures, Ancient Wisdom, or Revelation?, Modern Science in an Ancient Book, Modern Science: Jonah & the Whale, Modern Science & the Ark of Noah, Modern Science & the Deluge, & Modern Science & the Long Day of Joshua.

(It give you goose bumps to read how modern day "non-believer" astronomers & scientists have discovered thru looking at the night skies that there is a day (plus a few hours) "MISSING" from the stars, & planets, & constellations in space, and how the Holy Bible explains what happened to it!)

Science answers what and how, while Religion answers who and why. As long as each discipline stays in it's realm everything's good. But a true believer in God CAN also be a scientist, or science teacher, just as a scientist CAN learn to believe in a Creator/ God. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK! IT'LL GIVE YOU GOOSE BUMPS! This should ALWAYS stay in print! I'd rate this book as 7 stars, if they went that far up, for perfection, but it only goes to 5 stars. So I give it 5 stars, for the best!

A FAMOUS APOLOGETICS WORK BY AN EARLY CREATIONIST

Harry Rimmer (1890-1952) was an American creationist, apologetics writer, and evangelist; he wrote a number of books, such as MODERN SCIENCE AND THE GENESIS RECORD, Dead Men Tell Tales, etc.

This book was first written in 1936 (and was republished in 1973). Rimmer wrote in the Foreword, "The matter contained in this volume of apologetics has been delivered in lecture form before hundreds of audiences and student groups, totalling many thousands of auditors... The author has revised this material and has put it in this permanent form, that it might be available to libraries and schools that require this type of apologetics."

Here are some additional quotations from the book:

"We would unhesitatingly state that when men of science agree unanimously upon any correlated body of facts and do not change their conclusions or agreements concerning these facts for several thousand years, we will then be willing, if necessary, to discard the Bible and accept their conclusions instead!" (Pg. 13)
"How did Job know (Job 38:7) that at the dawn of creation the morning stars sang together... At one time it was futilely attempted to evade this question by suggesting that this was poetic imagination on the part of Job... (but) through the marvels of modern physics we have learned many things about the tonal value of light." (Pg. 127)
"At any rate it may easily be seen that a man would have no difficulty remaining alive for three days and three nights in an air chamber as extensive as (a whale's), containing 686 cubic feet of space." (Pg. 183)
"Parallel accounts in the records of other nations also prove that this account (i.e., Joshua making the sun stand still) is not a myth..." (Pg. 269)

An elegant,clear and beautifully drawn book that puts together all of the information about orthographic drawings that architects need to know. Filled with incredible detail and thoughtful analysis, this book is a refreshing update to drawing conventions that computer modeling often allows us to forget, and to be sloppy about. The book brings rigor and clarity to architecture representation and in doing so, makes architecture complex once more.

Per Bauhn is Professor of Practical Philosophy at Linnaeus University, Sweden. About the Author
Robin Landa holds the title of Distinguished Professor in the Robert Busch School of Design at Kean University of New Jersey. She is included among the teachers that the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching calls the "great teachers of our time." Most recently, Landa was a finalist in the WALL STREET JOURNAL's Creative Leaders competition. Professor Landa has won numerous awards for design, writing, and teaching, and is the author of 12 published books about graphic design, branding, advertising, and creativity, including GRAPHIC DESIGN SOLUTIONS (Wadsworth/Cengage), ADVERTISING BY DESIGN (John Wiley & Sons), and DESIGNING BRAND EXPERIENCES (Wadsworth/Cengage).

Missing 3 chapters

I am a business student taking a graphic design course in college. I purchased the print edition of this textbook. The material was in depth and the illustrations helped to spell out the concepts. Personally, I found the text to be a bit dry for my tastes and it often felt like trying to read an illustrated dictionary on design, from A to Z. This is probably somewhere around my 40th college textbook I've read. Based on my highly opinionated, subjective experience, I'd rate it as four out of five stars.

I gave it one star, however, because this is an incomplete product. Chapters 14 through 16 are not in the book. You have to go online, somewhere, to find them. The book doesn't bother to tell you where.

This is like buying a pound of expensive deli food and later discovering the bottom 20% of the container is empty, with the exception of an IOU message and an email address.

Okay, perhaps this is an ethically questionable way of redirecting readers to notice the book's companion website. This is a graphic design book, so those online chapters will certainly be interactive, cutting edge, and with all kinds of bells and whistles, right? Wrong! those chapters are pdfs!

It's smart to count your change after you've bought something. Nowadays it seems that we have to count that the pages are all there before purchasing books from some authors.
Avoid this product if you can.

Cannot access online material

I bought this book directly from Amazon at full price ($129.39) for my class, when it first came out (no used book available). When it came to reading materials from online chapters, I could not find any website with that information, even after registering for all web links I found on the covers of the book and reading through the index and chapters... Out of 16 chapters, 14-16 were "online". I asked my friend to look through the book as well to make sure I didn't miss a web link, and he could not find the online chapters either. I then asked my professor about ways to access online material, and he said he asked the publisher on my behalf but he never heard back... All my classmates have the 4th edition of the book, which has some of the online chapters printed. so I cannot recommend this book to anyone. If you really need this book for a class, get the cheaper previous edition that has less material "online".

About the Author
Wilbert J. McKeachie is Professor Emeritus and former chair of the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan. He is also a research scientist and past director of the University of Michigan Center for Research on Learning and Teaching. He has served as president of the American Psychological Association and of the American Association for Higher Education. He has also served as chair of the Committee on College and University Teaching, Research, and Publication of the American Association of University Professors. He speaks at workshops and conferences around the world and has published numerous articles in the United States and internationally.

Marilla Svinicki is Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and the retired director of the Center for Teaching Effectiveness at the University of Texas at Austin. She earned both her B.A. and M.A. at Western Michigan University and her Ph.D. at the University of Colorado. Her research interests include application of principles of learning to instruction in higher education and development of faculty and graduate students as teachers. She regularly teaches the college teaching methodology course at UT Austin along with the psychology of human learning and instructional psychology.

No Nonsense Teacher's Aid

As an adjunct instructor, this McKeachie book has provided me with some very valuable tools in the classroom. I use the strategies and perspectives in my own classroom to help manage the diverse group of students from millenials to boomers. It is like an academic mentor's advice for dealing with everything from problem students to creating more active learning environments for my students. I am embracing the fact that I am still learning (Goya's quote: aun aprendo)--just like my students. I am looking at the newer edition today for more class and pedagogy insights.

Great Resource

Great resource for those teaching at a college level or those thinking about teaching at a college level. I am a PhD student and this text was required for a teaching class I took. There are many things presented here that I never realized professors must to do teach a successful course. McKeachie provided ample examples and ideas to translate the ideas presented in this book into actions in the classroom. I will definitely be using this as a resource when I teach my own college-level classes.

Great Resource Book for Faculty Development for New Educators

This is a very valuable resource for anyone engaged in adult learning environments. This book served as a valuable resource in our faculty development program for new instructors, and was even found useful by those with more experience. I highly recommend this book for new adult educators.
