Not bad but not great either.

This is my very first book by the author. I was looking for a light, fluffy novel and I loved the cover(yes, I am shallow like that)
To be honest, I am not sure how I feel about this book. It was fun in parts and I liked the plot. But after a 100 pages or so it got really slow.
The MC, Annie is a good person and I liked her(at least in the beginning). I felt so angry on her behalf during the entire novel.
Dan treated her badly and I could not understand him. Everybody in the story kept saying that he is perfect but I din't see anything perfect. He cares about everyone's problems except Annie's. Sorry, but that doesn't seem perfect to me.In trying to save the world he completely ignores his wife.
Annie is like-able and sweet and I hated how she was treated in the book. Everyone seemed to walk over her and she let's them. She is constantly whining and is too hard on herself. It's almost like she enjoys taking the blame.
"As personalities go, I'm an accommodator, a pleaser, a hand-wringer."
The secondary characters, honestly, I didn't like any one of them. All the characters are selfish and take Annie for granted. I actually wanted to slap some of them.
The writing is good. The editing was bad.
In terms of character development, the author excels. I liked how the characters were described. The story is realistic.
I also like the constant references to real life things and people.
The beginning is good, the middle is dragged and the ending is rushed.

Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow

Annie and Dan have been the perfect couple for so long. But what happens when the honeymoon is over, the romance starts to wear off, and your husband seems to be married to his job more than you? That's the way Annie is feeling, and is increasingly unhappy as the lonely days go by. Dan seems to put everyone and everything in front of his wife, so when Annie gets a huge opportunity, she wants, no needs, to take it. Annie is offered a spot on a Broadway show, a huge break for her, but it would mean leaving Dan behind for a whole year in their Irish village of Stickens, and living alone in the Big Apple. When the final straw pushes Annie over the edge, she flees Stickens and lands in New York, ready for a break from her marriage. But will a year apart be good for Annie and Dan? Or will it only lead to the demise of their union?
Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow by Claudia Carroll is an enjoyable chick lit read. I really felt Annie's pain in how often she was put on the back burner by her husband, and was rooting for her to get to New York and be her own person. I liked reading about someone struggling to find their independence, because I can relate to that pretty easily. Annie meets a great cast of characters when she gets to New York, and there is quite the subplot going with a cast mate who has a drug problem. I really didn't know how this story was going to end. I couldn't decide if I thought Annie and Dan would get back together, or if Annie would find a new man in New York. That made me more on edge to finish the book quickly and see how everything played out. Overall, I really liked this story, a bit slow at times, but a fun chick lit read that I think will inspire readers to never rely too heavily on a man. I would recommend!

I have read some of Claudia's other books and really enjoyed them but this one is so light it beggars credibility. The storyline could have been so much better but really, there is not a woman out there who would put up with what Annie put up with in her marriage, particularly if the man in her life was so kind hearted to everyone else but her. It just stretched creditibility to the limit the way she allowed everyone in her household to walk all over her. The much put upon Annie was so unable to cope I felt like slapping her. Too many cliches and trying too hard to be funny - it just didn't feel natural or real. The New York bit was at least interesting in the way her experience there was described and the writer did bring the city to life which wouldn't be difficult considering it was New York. So many things irritated me that when it began to look as though the book was finally going to get real I was already in such a negative mood about it that the good was gone out of it. I would recommend it for a beach read but if you are looking for something challenging and stimulating forget this one. At best it is mildly entertaining. Her earlier books were better in my opinion. Sorry to be so negative about this but I think it is important to be honest.
